A Celebration of Song- Friday 22nd August @ 8pm-Craic Theatre, Coalisland

Workshop on Liturgical Music- Saturday 23rd August @ 11am- Church of the Holy Family, Coalisland.

On Friday 22nd of August at 8pm Fr Paul Byrne would like to invite you to a celebration of music and song led by the internationally acclaimed professional liturgical musician and composer, Mr Tom Kendzia.

Tom has over 30 recordings of liturgical and instrumental music including: ‘I, the Lord of Sea and Sky; Out of Darkness, Stand By Me and Taste & See. Tom has won the Unity Award on two occasions for his outstanding compositions in 2004 and 2007. His latest recordings include ‘Come To The Feast II’ and ‘Celtic Christmas’.

Tom has been in parish ministry since 1977 and has been music director in Christ the King Parish in Kingston, Rhode Island, USA. With his wife Mary Carol, he is the author of ‘I Like Being in Parish Ministry Music’ published by 23rd Publications.

Many of Tom’s compositions appear in well known hymn compilations and he is currently working on a number of new projects to be released in 2014. We are delighted that this gifted composer is taking time out from his busy schedule in Ireland to visit Coalisland and lead us in this celebration and workshop.

The workshop is for all those involved in liturgical music on a parish or school level. Tom will lead and prepare us in liturgical song old and new; and will offer musical direction on specific occasions such as weddings, funerals and other occasions in the church calendar. All of Tom’s suggestions should be useful to any parish/school choir and/or performer in the church setting.

An opportunity not be missed!
