The Pilgrimage always takes place on the last Sunday of May.  A few Parishes have an overnight stay but for most it is a day Pilgrimage.  Parishes are invited to make their own arrangements to share in the joy of the gathering. Posters promoting and advertising the Pilgrimage are forwarded to every Parish generally in mid April.  Most Parishes have a lay coordinatior who in conjunction with the Priests of their Parish help in the promotion of the Pilgrimage. Central to the Pilgrimage celebrations is the annointing of the sick which begins at 2.30pm with the celebration of Mass beginning at 3pm in the Basilica of Our Lady Queen of Ireland.  The Arch Bishop generally leads the Pilgrimage and it’s chief celebrant and preacher at these celebrations.  We share the day with the Knights of Columbanus and sometimes the Diocese of Achonry and Galway.
