Office of Pastoral Renewal and Family Ministry

The Office of Pastoral Renewal and Family Ministry (OPRFM) works with diocesan and pastoral ministers, lay and ordained, to enhance, nurture and support the capacity of parish communities and families to live out their vocation of knowing and embodying in today's world the Christ revealed in the Gospels.

The office was formed in September 2003 by Archbishop Sean and is located in the Armagh Diocesan Pastoral Centre at the Magnet in Dundalk.

The Office of Pastoral Renewal and Family Ministry is committed to:

  • the development of collaborative pastoral leadership at every level;
  • promoting the six pillars of ministry to strengthen the vocation of family and parish in imaging Christ. The six pillars are: leadership, liturgy and prayer, community building, formation and proclamation, service and outreach, administration;
  • the development of a structural team approach to effective family ministry.

oprfmstaff.gifThe team includes Fr. Andrew McNally, director, Mrs Milanda Kelly, administrator and Sr Rhoda Curran who is the director of the diocesan Pastoral Centre.

Over the last few years the OPRFM have been involved in the development of the diocesan pastoral plan, the formation and support of parish pastoral councils, and the formation of parish family ministry co-ordinators and parish baptism teams.

Soil for the Seed: Exploring our Faith as Adults
is one of the adult faith formation programmes being offered by OPRFM which also include shorter courses, one-day events and the opportunities for on-line learning.

While based in Dundalk, the commitment of the OPRFM is to be available to work with parishes and parish groups in their own area. We offer training and facilitation designed to support the local pastoral and family ministry development needs of the parishes in the diocese.

Welcome to the website of the Archdiocese of Armagh.

Our diocese of sixty-one parishes, from four counties, North and South of the Border, is knitted together closely to form the historic local Church of Armagh. As a diocese we seek not only to be faithful to the message of Jesus Christ himself, but also to embrace the challenges of the present and to look forward with confidence to the opportunities of the future. We strive to do this primarily by reflecting the healing love of Christ and the Truth of his Gospel through the ministry of his Church in the various parishes and pastoral agencies you will find outlined in this website.

I pray that visitors to this site may find the information it contains, the aspirations and resources it promotes, useful in helping to understand the mission of the Archdiocese of Armagh in building up the Kingdom of God in the twenty-first century.

We place it under the protection of Mary, Mother of the Church, who advised us to do whatever her son, Jesus, tells us. We invoke the help of the Patron Saints of the diocese, Patrick  and  Brigid, Malachy and Moninne  and the martyrs, Oliver Plunkett and Patrick O'Loughran,  that this website may prove to be of great help to all who strive to follow Christ faithfully.
