GOSPEL AND ACTS

grapebunch.gifGo into my Vineyard: preparing for Pastoral Leadership continues in the New Year.  The second module, Gospels and Acts, will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning on Tuesday 5 January in St Catherine's College, Armagh.  It will be presented by Sandra Cullen who teaches in Mater Dei.

CHURCH AS SACRAMENTAL PEOPLE

The third module of Soil for the Seed:Exploring our Faith as Adults will begin in Drogheda Community Services Centre, Drogheda on Monday 4 January 2010 at 7.30pm.  The theme is Church as Sacramental People.  Given the shameful revelations of recent times and the challenges facing the Catholic Church in Ireland at this time, this course is indeed timely. All are welcome.

Statement by Cardinal Seán Brady on the death of Cardinal Cahal Brendan Daly

cardinal_daly.jpgIt is with great sadness that I heard the news of the death of Cardinal Cahal Daly, who died peacefully this evening in the presence of family and friends at the City Hospital in Belfast, after a short illness.

At this time my thoughts and prayers are with his sister Rosaleen, his brother Paddy and sisters-in-law Barbara and Mavis, his nieces and nephews, his extended family and all who mourn him in the dioceses of Ardagh & Clonmacnois, Down & Connor and Armagh.

NEW DIOCESAN PASTORAL COUNCIL

The draft constitution of the new Diocesan Pastoral Council and the draft framework document were examined at a meeting on Sunday 18 November, 2009.  It attendance were Cardinal Brady, Bishop Clifford, the chairperson and members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, members of the co-ordinating group of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan and the working groups of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan.
