Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

“The RCIA is a process designed to prepare adults for entrance into the Catholic Church by the reception of the Sacrament of Initiation” (Irish Catholic Catechism of Adults, p.565).

Through the RCIA, members of the local Church undertake the process of initiating new members who have responded to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

For those who join the RCIA, it is a prolonged period of reflection, prayer, instruction, discernment, formation and ritual, with particular reference to Sacred Scripture and Church teaching.

The RCIA has now commenced its fifth consecutive year in the Pastoral Centre in Dundalk, drawing candidates referred from parishes of the local Pastoral area and beyond. Read more about it here RCIA 2011-2015 – Dundalk
