Unlocking the door to new hope

Habitat NI celebrates 21st birthday with The Priests

Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland is celebrating 21 years building hope with an evening of music and song with The Priests on 29th May at St. Patrick’s RC Cathedral, Armagh. Funds raised from the performance will help unlock the door to a brighter future for thousands of families in need of a decent place to call home.

Since 1994, 28,000 volunteers from across the community have practically engaged in Habitat NI’s work at home and around the world. Barriers have been broken down and stronger communities created where everyone has the opportunity to grow.

At the concert, The Priests’ will perform musical favourites including a moving rendition of ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’, a reminder of the bridges that have, and will be, built through Habitat’s work.

Jenny Williams, Chief Executive of Habitat NI said: “We are delighted that The Priests will perform this special concert to celebrate the hope that local people have helped us build for 21 years. The funds raised will enable us to serve thousands more families in desperate need of simple homes. Tonight, and every night, 1.6 billion people will go to sleep without a decent place to live.

Simple homes save lives. The average cost of a Habitat home in the developing world is just £1,235. As we look ahead, we are determined to use this anniversary as a platform to get more support to help families unlock the door to brighter futures. ” Ms Williams continued.

Tickets cost £20 each plus a standard booking fee. They are available on the Habitat NI website: www.habitatni.co.uk; from Armagh Parish Office, 028 3752 2813; and Habitat ReStore, Riverside Centre, Young Street, Lisburn.
